First Day of Tourism: Today’s goal is to make a sand bottle at the gold market!
1. Dubai Gold Souk
The Gold Souk is just a 10-minute walk from the Days Hotel by Wyndham Dubai Deira. ‘Souq’ means market, and the Dubai Gold Souk is said to be the second-largest gold market in the world after the USA.

It was fun to see the glittering gold outside. The alleys of the Dubai Gold Souk had almost no soliciting.
There are perfume alleys and spice alleys around the Gold Souk, where soliciting is quite intense. My goal was to make a sand bottle, so I wandered around these areas.
There are a few places around the Dubai Gold Souk that make sand bottles. I asked for the price and applied for one at AED 40. It took about 10 minutes to make the sand bottle. They wrote on the empty bottle with ink and shook it while adding sand until the artwork was complete.
I really loved it. The colors are more vibrant and clearer in person. Sand bottles sold in supermarkets are cheaper, but you can’t write names on them. Since writing the name was important to me, I made one myself and am satisfied with the value for money. It’s the souvenir from Dubai I’m most pleased with. 😊
2. Travel by Abra boat
To get to Bastakiya and the museum, you have to cross the sea route. You need to travel by a water boat called ‘Abra’.

There were many docks, but it’s fastest to go to a boat where many people are sitting and ask. You just need to give AED 1 to the driver. Remember to carry cash, as cards are not accepted here.
The view from the boat was also beautiful. I got off at the first stop the boat reached.
3. Local House - Camel Burger
I was curious about the taste of the famous camel burger, so I went to the Local House restaurant alone since my mother thought she couldn’t eat camel meat.
You can dine both indoors and outdoors, but I chose indoors. The atmosphere inside was bright and pleasant.
It took 20 minutes for the bread to come out, and the sauce had a strong pepper and spice flavor, but it was tastier than I expected.
It looked better and more appetizing than I thought. The vegetables were fresh, and the camel meat was thick. It was firmer than pork or beef, and the spice flavor was strong. I enjoyed it. If you don’t have preconceptions about camel meat, it could be a memorable experience to try it once. The camel burger and cola cost AED 71
4. Al Fahidi Historical District Starbucks

There are shops scattered around, making it fun to explore. The intense sunlight and the earth-colored buildings complemented each other well.

This is the most famous Starbucks in the Al Fahidi Historical District. It’s a must-visit for photos with the building and logo. The inside is small and there’s nothing special to see. It’s famous for taking pictures with the building outside.
After having coffee, I visited Frame and AYA in the newly opened Wafi Mall, which are representative tourist spots in Dubai. Please refer to the next post for Frame and AYA. Thank you! ^^
